Northfield Bancorp Summary

Company Summary

Overview
Northfield Bancorp, Inc. is the holding company of Northfield Bank. In addition to Northfield Bank, Northfield Bancorp, Inc. also owns Northfield Investments, Inc., a New Jersey investment company, which currently is inactive. The Bank’s principal business consists of gathering deposits, and to a lesser extent, borrowing funds, and using such funds to originate multifamily real estate loans and commercial real estate loans, purchase investment securities including mortgage-backed securities and corporate bonds, as well as depositing funds in other financial institutions. It also offers, to a lesser extent, construction and land loans, commercial and industrial loans, one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, and home equity loans and lines of credit. Northfield Bank offers a variety of deposit accounts, including certificates of deposit, passbook, statement, and money market savings accounts, transaction deposit accounts (negotiable orders of withdrawal (NOW) accounts and non-interest bearing demand accounts), individual retirement accounts, and to a lesser extent when it is deemed cost-effective, brokered deposits. Deposits are the Bank’s primary source of funds for its lending and investing activities. The Bank also uses borrowings as a source of funds, principally from the securities sold under agreements to repurchase (repurchase agreements) with third party financial institutions and Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLB) advances.
