Nanoco Group

Nanoco Technologies leads the world in the research, development and large-scale manufacture of heavy metal-free quantum dots and other nanomaterials for use in displays, lighting, solar energy and bio-imaging. Nanoco’s unique and patented volume production technology, referred to as the “molecular seeding process”, allows for the production of uniform, high quality quantum dots on a large scale. Moreover, Nanoco’s quantum dots, called CFQD® quantum dots, are free from cadmium and any other heavy-metals so they are ideally suited for use in all consumer electronic devices. One of the key application areas for CFQD® quantum dots is in LCD displays and LED lighting. In LCD displays, the technology can not only dramatically enhance the colour performance of the screen but also allows manufacturers to use their existing infrastructure. Similarly, CFQD® quantum dots can be used to control the colour temperature and improve the colour quality of LED lighting. In January 2013, Nanoco signed a global license deal with Dow Electronic Materials (“Dow”) which allows Dow to utilize its expertise in high volume manufacturing to market and sell Nanoco’s CFQD quantum dots to the display industry.
