    OverviewSuggest Edit

Winderlea Vineyard & Winery is a luxury boutique winery, specializing in the limited production of Oregon Pinot Noir. The vineyard, purchased by Donna Morris and Bill Sweat in 2006, best shows how Oregon's unique climate paired with the heritage of artisanal craftsmanship can produce elegant and age-worthy Pinot Noir. Situated in the heart of the Willamette Valley, the property includes 20 acres on the Red Hills bench in Dundee, the area where Oregon's international recognition for great Pinot Noir began.

Vineyard Update | A Classic Oregon Vintage

After a string of warm and dry(er) vintages we are once again having an Oregon harvest.  In the last week temperatures have dropped in to the 60’s and 70’s and we’ve had several rain events totaling over an inch.  The forecast for the next ten days promises much of the same.  One of the great […] Th…

    The Ever Looming Harvest

There comes a time every year when it really feels that harvest is imminent.  That happened for me on Saturday August 24th.  I was in the vineyard with some guests and Block 3, one of our original blocks, was almost completely through version (color change).  We’re a warm site and expect to be early…

    Crop Estimations Are in

This is the time of year when we are able to estimate how much crop we have and those pins and needles we’ve been experiencing either go away or turn in to daggers heading straight to our financial hearts – lag phase.  In general things look very good this year.  We estimate that our home […] The po…

A Time When Vigilance is Most Crucial

As KC and I were leaving for the airport Monday morning for Pinot in the City Chicago, I really noticed the humidity in the air.  Just as we left the office it started to sprinkle.  Hmmm, warm, humid, sprinkling rain, sounds like perfect conditions for powdery mildew, a grayish white fungal pathogen…

From Grape Growers to Weather Watcher

Grape growers are weather watchers and we are no different.  This year finds us with slightly lower than average rainfall, though there should be sufficient water in the water table to get us through harvest.  Temperatures were warm early in the season but have moderated somewhat.  According to clim…

Vineyard Rows of Grassland Are Abuzz With Activity

On Monday afternoon I was out doing a late season Biodynamic 500 spray (cow horn manure) and noticed how different the vineyard felt because we did not till this year and because we are mowing the cover crop at about 10″ height.  Usually, this time of year about half the rows, on average, would have…
