Tandem is a free mobile app that uses its community and marketplace to connect learners from around the world through text and video chats. By practicing with native speakers, Tandem gives learners a genuine feel for a language that’s the next best thing to spending time in another country. Tandem's certified language teachers work with learners one-on-one to develop a plan tailored to their level and language learning needs. The app is available on iOS and Android. Tandem was founded in 2015 by Arnd Aschentrup, Tobias Dickmeis, and Matthias Kleimann and was recognised by Apple in their "App Store Best of 2015" list.
