SynCardia Systems is a manufacturer of a total artificial heart (TAH). The TAH is a pneumatically driven pulsatile system used for orthotopic replacement of the native ventricles and four valves in cases of end-stage biventricular heart failure. The company also provides a smaller version of the TAH, Companion 2 Hospital Driver delivering pneumatic power to the TAH, and Freedom Portable Driver, a smaller portable pneumatic pump.
