The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for Monterey County is a nonprofit, independent, donor-supported humane society. It rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes pets, provides veterinary care and a treatment learning and compassion (TLC) program, investigates animal cruelty and neglect, reduces pet overpopulations through spay and neuter services, offers behavior training programs, provides disaster preparedness and response, educates children and adults about humane treatment of animals. The company operates an admission shelter and a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center.
