ScribeAmerica was established in 2003, while the concept of medical scribe utilization in the industry has been anecdotally reported since the 1970's, ScribeAmerica transformed this cottage operation into a national industry. In 2006, we were the first company to demonstrate that the synergy of the Scribe/MD/EMR model could overcome productivity losses experienced by unassisted physicians using EMR. In 2008, we were the first scribe company providing services on both coasts and the only scribe company present at ACEP, AAOS, and SHM. We credit our success to our generous profit-sharing business model whereby the actual Project Leaders who manage our client's programs are rewarded. By enfranchising our employee base, we ensure limited attrition among management and attract the best talent in the industry to run your program. ... Show more

The Challenge of Defining Value in Health Care

One of the challenges in transitioning from volume-based payments to value-based systems is that to achieve value, you have to be able to define value. Volume-based systems are comparatively easy: A test costs this much, a procedure costs that much, an office visit this much, and so on. Value is...

The Transformative Potential of Predictive Analytics

Palm readers and psychics are more than happy to take your money, peer into the mystic, furrow their brows, and predict your future—with, of course, about the same accuracy rate you’d get if you flipped your coins rather than relinquishing them. Understanding Cost-Effective Analysis in the Transition to Value-Based Care

Implementing Policies that Promote Bad-Debt Avoidance

High-deductible health plans sound great if you’re an insurance company collecting premiums from patients who never exhaust their deductibles; or if you’re an employer who wants to reduce your healthcare expenses; or if, for whatever reason, you want to discourage people from seeking care that’s any…

The rules of reimbursement are gradually changing, but in the healthcare game, no timeout can be called. No wonder those in the field are feeling a little dizzy and disoriented. Forced to deal with a mixture of fee-for-service and value-based reimbursements, providers feel as if they have “a foot in…

What Wearables Bring to the Healthcare Table

Three years ago, British researchers writing in the Public Library of Science predicted that enthusiasm for wearable technology would quickly wane. “Like many technological trends,” they wrote, “these mass-marketed gadgets will drift into obscurity.” After all, they reasoned, wearables were typicall…
