NTT Basic Research Laboratories (BRL, NTT物性科学基礎研究所) is an institution that conducts basic research in the fields of materials science, physical science, and optical science. It operates a multidisciplinary materials design and science laboratory, advanced applied physical science laboratory, a quantum science and technology laboratory, a research center for theoretical quantum physics, a biomedical informatics research center, and a nanophotonics center. The institution also organizes "Science Plaza" and conferences on quantum physics and nano-science. In addition, BRL sponsors "BRL School" dedicated to young researchers.
