Mariner Health Care provides skilled nursing and long-term health care services. Its Skilled Nursing Facilities segment provides assistance with one or more activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, dressing, eating, transportation, and related services. These services are supplemented by rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The Company’s Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals segment, apart from providing the services of skilled nursing facilities, also provides the relatively high sub-acute clinical needs of patients discharged from a short-term acute-care hospital when the patients’ condition warrants more intensive care than can be provided in a skilled nursing facilities or other setting.
