Flatfish was founded in 1979 by Steve Stansfield and his father operating from a stall on the old Grimsby fish pontoon, and from those humble beginning has developed into one of the UK’S leading independent fish processing companies, operating from a state of the art facility at the heart of one of the single largest centres of fish processing in Europe. The multi million pound investment programme that the Company has undertaken over the past 10 years has been underpinned by its belief that the future of the industry is inextricably linked to the sourcing of raw material from well managed fishing grounds providing sustainable sources of fish with a high level of traceability. This ethos has helped it develop into a successful supplier to some of the UK’s major supermarkets, as well as leading wholesalers and food service companies.
