Drax Group

Drax Group plc is a FTSE 250 company at the cutting edge of research and development in renewable power generation. The company owns and operates the UK’s largest power station, typically providing 7 – 8% of the UK’s electricity. By transforming itself into a predominantly biomass-fuelled generator, it is delivering Europe’s single largest decarbonisation project. It is now a world leader in sourcing sustainable biomass through its US business, Drax Biomass. In March 2015, Drax acquired Billington Bioenergy, the UK’s second largest wood pellet distributor. The move supports the company’s intention to enter the UK’s growing biomass heat sector and complements its core business. At the other end of the supply chain, it supplies renewable electricity to businesses through its retail arm Haven Power.
