CENIC is a nonprofit organization that operates the California Research and Education Network (CalREN), an optical fiber network. It develops, manages, and maintains this network, and oversees broadband infrastructure grants in the state. The organization serves K-20 students, educators, researchers, public libraries, research institutions, medical facilities, tribal nations, and governmental entities in California.
