Its insurance businesses provide insurance and reinsurance of property and casualty and life, accident and health risks. The company conducts rail operations and transports a range of products and commodities derived from manufacturing, agricultural, and natural resource industries. Through Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE), it generates, transmits, and distributes electricity, operates natural gas distribution and storage facilities, interstate pipelines, compressor and meter stations, and coal mining assets, as well as provides real estate brokerage services. Berkshire Hathaway also manufactures and sells industrial, building, and consumer products. Its service businesses provide grocery and foodservice distribution, professional aviation training programs, distribution of electronic components, as well as franchising and servicing of quick-service restaurants, media distribution, and logistics.
