App Academy

App Academy is a 3 month immersive web development course taught in San Francisco and New York. We're closing in on training 800 students across both locations, more than 25,000 people have applied for the course, and we’ve been profitable for the last two years. Our tuition model is game-changing. Students only pay if they find a job within 12 months after the course. No job, no tuition. This allows us to select students for their talent and passion regardless of what’s in their bank account. Each course bootstraps dozens of students out of financial hardship. 98% of our graduates find placement in tech jobs after the program, with average salaries of $105k in San Francisco and $89k in New York. Their employers include AdRoll, Braintree, Cisco, Facebook, Google, Intuit, Mixpanel, the NASDAQ, the New York Times, Oracle, Pivotal Labs, Upstart, Vimeo, Stripe and Tumblr. Topics covered: Ruby (Ruby on Rails, Active Record), SQL, JSON, XML, APIs, Heroku, HTML5, CSS3, JS (JQuery, AJAX, Backbone.js, Node.js), object oriented design, test-driven development, algorithms & data structures, deployment, scaling, design basics, UX, security.
