Alliance Holdings GP (AHGP) is a limited partnership formed to own and control Alliance Resource Management GP, LLC, the managing general partner of Alliance Resource Partners, L.P., a limited partnership engaged in the production and marketing of coal to major U.S. utilities and industrial users. The ARLP Partnership operates several underground mining complexes in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland and West Virginia. It also operates a coal loading terminal on the Ohio River at Mt. Vernon, Indiana. The ARLP Partnership's mining activities are conducted in two geographic regions commonly referred to in the coal industry as the Illinois Basin and Appalachian regions.
