Escapada Living epitomizes vibrant, effortless apparel and resort wear for the modern woman. After traveling the world and gaining extensive fashion industry experience, owner Natalia Castillo founded the brand in Charleston, S.C. in 2009. The line was an instant success, and today Natalia’s colorful, island-inspired designs can be found in more than 2,000 boutiques and luxury resorts worldwide. The company was named to the Inc. 500/ 5000 list in both 2014 and 2015.
A Durham, N.C. native, Natalia graduated from Emory University and began her career in apparel with Macy’s department stores. Starting as a sales manager, she quickly worked her way up the ranks to become one of the company’s West Coast buyers. After 10 years with Macy’s, Natalia was eager to start her own business. Inspired by her lifelong love of travel, she founded, and later sold, two successful resort wear lines before establishing Escapada. The brand quickly gained recognition as a provider of apparel that is stylish and well made, yet attainably priced. The company continues to grow and develop, and the first Escapada Signature Store opened in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. in 2013, followed by a new ecommerce website in 2015.
It’s no coincidence that “Escapada” translates to “escape” in Spanish. The Escapada Girl is a sun seeker, a traveler who collects experiences alongside souvenirs. The line transposes that tropical culture into everyday life, offering an array of fresh, colorful styles inspired by the rich lifestyle of the islands. From printed tunics and flirty rompers to chic dresses and easy cover ups, the line takes women from the beach to cocktails, and everywhere in between. Escapada exudes a vibrant, yet relaxed aesthetic perfect for any beach vacation – or even for landlocked dreams of an exotic getaway.
